Primera Liga leaders Real Madrid will be looking to extend their 100% record into the fifth match of the season as they host Villarreal at Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday. Last season Real Madrid beat Villarreal 3-0 at home but the reverse fixture ended with a 1-0 victory for the underdogs. Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last 15 home matches against Villarreal in all competitions.
Things are going smoothly for Real Madrid so far, four wins out of four in La Liga and a 2-1 victory over Sporting in the Champions League. The Champions League win was not easy at all, but the domestic league matches have been fairly straightforward for Zinedine Zidane's men so far. Goalkeeper Keylor Navas is injured, while Casemiro picked up a knock last time out and might miss out. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale should both be fit.
Villarreal are also unbeaten this season, but they started off with two consecutive draws before beating Malaga and Real Sociedad. In between they suffered the disappointment of being knocked out in the Champions League playoffs by Monaco but they gained some consolation after defeating Zurich in the first Europa League group match. Roberto Soldado and Cédric Bakambu are injured and will not play.
Probable line-ups:
Real Madrid: Casilla - Danilo, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo - Modric, Kroos, Rodriguez - Bale, Morata, Ronaldo
Villarreal: Asenjo - Mario, Ruiz, Musacchio, Costa - Santos, Trigueros, Bruno, Cheryshev - Borre, Sansone
My prediction: Real Madrid to win 2-1.
