Real Madrid are looking to strengthen their defence and it seems that AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson is their next major target. According to Italian media, the Blancos are prepared to offer Alisson a five-year contract worth 5 million euros per year, which would be twice what he's getting in Rome. Moreover, Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to spend a significant amount for the Brazilian goalkeeper: 60 million euros. An official offer has not been made yet, but Real Madrid have already made contact with the player's agent.
However, Liverpool have also been rumoured to be interested in the goalkeeper and Roma are willing to increase his wages in order to persuade him to stay. Alisson had amazing performances this season, he kept clean sheets in 17 of the 38 matches he played since the start of the campaign and is regarded as one of the best goalies in Serie A. He is under contract with AS Roma until 2021. "Alisson is certainly one of the best goalkeepers in the world,' said the goalkeeper's agent, Ze Maria Neis.
The agent insisted that the 25-year-old goalie is fully focused on his matches at AS Roma, but didn't want to comment on the possibility of signing a new contract with the club. "Will he sign a new contract? Now Alisson only thinks in present time," the agent added. "I don't know how much he will cost. It depends about Roma and the transfer market." Alisson joined AS Roma in 2016 from Brazilian club Internacional as a backup for Polish goalie Wojciech Szczesny, but this season he became the number one choice. Costa Rica international Keylor Navas is the current number one goalkeeper at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are 9/2 at Bet365 to win the Champions League this season, while AS Roma are 66/1 to win it.
