Brazilian full-back Dani Alves has asked Serie A champions Juventus to let him go this summer, despite having had a great season in Turin. Dani Alves helped Juventus complete a domestic double and also played the Champions League final, which Juve lost 4-1 against Real Madrid. Apparently the Brazilian star was disappointed with the defeat in Cardiff and his relationship with the Juventus fans deteriorated recently after a few controversial statements from the player.
Last week Dani Alves said in an interview with a Brazilian television network that Juventus rising star Paulo Dybala has to leave the club in order to become a better player. That statement angered the Juventus supporters and Alves added further fuel to the fire on Monday when he posted a photo of his boots from Barcelona's 3-1 win over Juventus in the 2015 Champions League final on his Instagram account. On Wednesday, club director Giuseppe Marotta revealed that Alves has officially asked the club for a way out.
"Dani Alves has decided that he wants to change his surroundings, so we will come to a mutual agreement and we wish him luck," Marotta said. "There has been no break-up with Dani, but motivation is fundamental for any footballer." Dani Alves is still under contract with Juventus for another two years and apparently Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea have already expressed their interest in signing him this summer. Alves, aged 34, scored 2 goals in 19 Serie A matches for Juventus last season.
Juventus are 4/7 at Bet365 to win the Serie A title again next season.
