AS Roma legend Francesco Totti ended his 25-year career on Sunday when he made his final appearance for the club in the 3-2 victory over Genoa. That was his 786th appearance as he came in as a substitute in the 54th minute of the game. Totti, aged 40, is expected to become a director at AS Roma, the only club he has played for in his career. However, there are rumours that he might continue to play elsewhere. Francesco Totti set a bunch of records during his extraordinary career, starting with the most appearances for the club in all competitions, 786. He also scored the most goals for the club in all competitions, 307, and has equalled Paolo Maldini's record of 25 Serie A seasons played. He also set a new record by scoring in 23 Serie A seasons and he became the youngest ever captain in the league at the age of 22. Francesco Totti is well-known for his love for AS Roma, a sentiment which he has made clear more than once. "Winning one league title at Roma to me is worth winning 10 at Juventus or Real Madrid," he said. "I grew up playing for Roma and I want to die playing for Roma." But he also recognised his limits as a player: "There is only one player who is doing things that I could never do - and that is Messi."
