Inter will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak in Serie A to ten games when they face Sampdoria at Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Tuesday. It won't be easy for Luciano Spalletti's men because Sampdoria have beaten them in both league matches last season, 1-0 in Genoa and 2-1 in Milan. Overall, Sampdoria have won three of the last six league meetings against Inter but last season's victory at San Siro came after a twenty-year drought and the head to head record since 1993 shows just nine wins out of 43 matches for Sampdoria.
Inter are still unbeaten this season as they survived last weekend's encounter with league leaders Napoli, they secured a goalless draw in Naples and were quite close to getting the three points too. Inter are not involved in European competitions this season and that gives head coach Luciano Spalletti a slight advantage over the other top three contenders who have to rotate their players in order to prevent fatigue. Marcelo Brozovic is the only injury concern for the home side, so we will most likely see the same starting eleven that got the draw at Napoli last weekend.
Sampdoria have performed above expectations so far this season, they have lost just one of their nine league matches so far and have tasted victory on five occasions. They have won their last two matches, 3-1 over Atalanta and 5-0 against Crotone last weekend, and moved up to sixth place in Serie A. They have recorded a couple of impressive results this season, like the 2-1 victory at Fiorentina, so an upset could happen here. Goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano is the only injury worry for the visitors.
Probable line-ups:
Inter: Handanovic - D'Ambrosio, Skriniar, Miranda, Nagatomo - Gagliardini, Vecino - Candreva, Valero, Perisic - Icardi
Sampdoria: Puggioni - Bereszynki, Silvestre, Ferrari, Strinic - Linetty, Torreira, Praet - Ramirez - Zapata, Quagliarella
My prediction: Inter to win 2-1.
