Serie A champions Juventus seem to have found the adequate replacement for veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon as they have reached an agreement with Arsenal for the transfer of Polish goalie Wojciech Szczesny. Juventus have published a video of Szczesny introducing himself to the fans on their official Twitter account. It is believed that Arsenal accepted an offer worth 10 million pounds for the 27-year-old goalkeeper, who is no stranger to the Serie A after having spent the past two seasons on loan at AS Roma.
Szczesny had a particularly good campaign last season as Roma finished second in Serie A, he played in all 38 league games and finished with 14 clean sheets, the most in the league. He has made 132 appearances for Arsenal during his eight years at the club and has won 28 caps for Poland. After the arrival of Petr Cech at Arsenal, Szczesny found his playing options at the Emirates Stadium limited, so the club decided to let him go away on loan for a couple of seasons.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has announced earlier this years that he intends to retire from football after the 2018 World Cup, but Szczesny might be given chances to play before that as Buffon will probably need to rest more given he is nearly 40 years old. Juventus have lost right-back Daniel Alves on a free transfer this summer and have also sold central defender Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan, but they have secured the signing of Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa and have also bought young Uruguayan prospect Rodrigo Bentancur from Boca Juniors.
Juventus are 4/6 at Bet365 to win the Serie A title again next season.
