Reigning champions Juventus will be looking to make their return to winning ways when they play host to Sampdoria in the Serie A on Wednesday. Juventus have been dominating the direct meetings record in recent years, capturing five wins and a draw in the last six meetings. The last time Sampdoria grabbed all three points in Turin was in 2013, when Mauro Icardi scored twice in a 2-1 victory.
Juventus lost their second match of the Serie A season last weekend as AC Milan beat them 1-0 to break the title race wide open. Juventus are still leading the league table, but Roma and Milan are now just one point behind, so any slip-up against Sampdoria could see the Bianconeri lose the leadership. Paulo Dybala and Kwadwo Asamoah are injured, while goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has received permission to rest for a few days.
Sampdoria are not having the greatest of seasons so far, but last weekend they made their fans really happy as they defeated city rivals Genoa 2-1. They are still down in 15th position though, so they need to grab as many points as they can get really soon in order to move away from the relegation zone. Carlos Carbonero, Daniel Pavlovic and Emiliano Viviano are injured.
Probable line-ups:
Juventus: Neto - Benatia, Bonucci, Chiellini - Alves, Khedira, Hernanes, Pjanic, Evra - Higuain, Mandzukic
Sampdoria: Puggioni - Sala, Silvestre, Skriniar, Regini - Barreto, Torreira, Linetty - Fernandes - Quagliarella, Muriel
My prediction: Juventus to win 1-0.
