Lazio and Inter play an all or nothing match in the last Serie A weekend of the season, the two teams clash at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Sunday to decide which of the two will play in the Champions League next season. The reverse fixture, played in December at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, ended goalless, but Inter won 3-1 at Lazio last season. However, Lazio have won three of the last six direct matches in all competitions, while Inter only managed to grab two victories.
Lazio came very close to securing their fourth spot last weekend but eventually they had to settle for a 2-2 draw at relegation-threatened Crotone. That result gives them two options out of three for Sunday's game against Inter, they will remain in fourth place if they beat Inter or if they hold out for a draw. Lazio have not lost a home match since the beginning of March, when champions Juventus defeated them 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium. Luis Alberto, Ciro Immobile and Marco Parolo are injured and won't be able to play in this match, while Jordan Lukaku is a doubt.
Inter missed a great chance to narrow the gap towards Lazio last weekend as they got stunned by Sassuolo, the Nerazzurri lost 2-1 at home and that result leaves them with a single option for Sunday's match in Rome: victory. If Inter beat Lazio both teams would finish the season with 72 points, but Inter would be fourth thanks to their better head-to-head record this season. Inter have won their last two away matches, but somehow managed to lose their last two home games as well. Head coach Luciano Spalletti doesn't have any injury concerns ahead of this match.
Probable line-ups:
Lazio: Strakosha - Caceres, Felipe, Radu - Marusic, Murgia, Lucas, Milinkovic-Savic, Lulic - Felipe Anderson - Caicedo
Inter: Handanovic - Cancelo, Skriniar, Miranda, D'Ambrosio - Gagliardini, Brozovic - Candreva, Rafinha, Perisic - Icardi
My prediction: 1-1 draw.
