Third-placed Lazio are looking to extend their fabulous Serie A winning streak to ten games when they face struggling Napoli at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Saturday. Last season Napoli won both matches against Lazio 2-1 and Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik scored on both occasions. Napoli have won the last five direct matches and are undefeated in the last eight, Lazio have not beaten them since 2015.
Lazio are going through their best moment in years, they have won their last nine Serie A matches and are third in the league table with a game in hand on their rivals. Last weekend they fought back from 1-0 down to win 2-1 at Brescia, and they have also won the Italian Super Cup after beating Juventus 3-1 before Christmas. Marco Parolo is suspended for Saturday's match, while Jordan Lukaku is the only injury concern for head coach Simone Inzaghi.
Napoli have replaced head coach Carlo Ancelotti with Gennaro Gattuso, but things have not improved under the new boss. On Monday Napoli lost 3-1 at home against league leaders Inter and have drifted down to eighth place in the league table. They have lost one third of their Serie A matches this season and have conceded a massive 25 goals in 18 matches so far. Their defence is still weakened by the absence of centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, who is out injured, along with Nikola Maksimovic, Kevin Malcuit and Faouzi Ghoulam. Belgium international Dries Mertes is an injury doubt and is also expected to miss out.
Probable line-ups:
Lazio: Strakosha - Felipe, Acerbi, Radu - Lazzari, Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva, Alberto, Lulic - Caicedo, Immobile
Napoli: Meret - Lorenzo, Manolas, Luperto, Rui - Zielinski, Ruiz, Allan - Callejon, Milik, Insigne
My prediction:
A struggling Napoli is exactly what Lazio needed at this point, I think the home side will win the match 2-1.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
