The 173rd edition of the famous "Derby della Capitale" will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Sunday, when rivals Lazio and Roma will battle for more than the usual three points in Serie A. Last season the two rivals divided the points fairly, Roma won the first match 3-1 and then Lazio got revenge with a 3-0 win. Overall, Roma have won three of the last six direct matches in all competitions, while Lazio collected two wins. Roma ended last season in sixth place, while Lazio had a disappointing eighth-place finish.
Lazio kicked off the season with a convincing win last week, they won 3-0 at Sampdoria with two goals from Ciro Immobile and one from Joaquin Correa. They have not made any big transfers this summer, but they did manage to keep star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic despite interest from various big clubs. Jordan Lukaku is the only injury concern for head coach Simone Inzaghi before this derby match.
Roma also had a spectacular start to the season, but they were unable to get the three points. They led Genoa 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 but in the end had to settle for just one point. Cengiz Under, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov scored for the Giallorossi, but head coach Paulo Fonseca was quite disappointed with his defence. New signing Davide Zappacosta might replace Alessandro Florenzi at right-back, while Leonardo Spinazzola and Diego Perotti are injured.
Probable line-ups:
Lazio: Strakosha - Felipe, Acerbi, Radu - Lazzari, Leiva, Milinkovic-Savic, Lulic - Correa, Luis Alberto - Immobile
Roma: Lopez - Zappacosta, Fazio, Jesus, Kolarov - Cristante, Pellegrini - Florenzi, Zaniolo, Under - Dzeko
My prediction:
Lazio had a better start to the season, while Roma are trying to adjust to life under new head coach Paulo Fonseca. I think Lazio are stronger at the moment and I believe they will grab a 2-1 victory.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
Lazio win - 2.15
Draw - 3.60
Roma win - 3.25

It's been quite a decent derby match between the two Rome sides, both hitting the posts quite a few times in the game (like 5 times in total if I remember right)...
It's been quite a decent derby match between the two Rome sides, both hitting the posts quite a few times in the game (like 5 times in total if I remember right) so it could of been quite a prolific game but it wasn't meant to be in the end. Despite Lazio's territorial advantage I think the game ended in a draw quite logically but probably the home side should regret a bit more they weren't able to convert their chances and win it.
