Lazio can climb up to second place in the Serie A table on Wednesday evening, all they need is a victory against nith-placed Verona at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Last season Lazio won both matches against Verona, 2-0 at home and 3-0 away, and star striker Ciro Immobile scored twice in each of those two games. Lazio have won the last five direct matches and have not lost against Verona since 2013.
Lazio are having a superb season so far and they seem capable of mounting a title challenge for the first time since they have won it in the year 2000. They have lost just two of their 21 league matches so far this season and have not lost a league match since September, when they were defeated by second-placed Inter. Now they can climb above Inter in second place as the match against Verona is Lazio's game in hand, and if they win it leaders Juventus would be just two points away. Joaquin Correa, Jordan Lukaku and Danilo Cataldi are out injured, while Luiz Felipe is a doubt.
Verona finally seem to have a solid season in Serie A after two consecutive relegation-promotion sequences. This time they are in ninth place after 21 matches and the relegation zone is 14 points behind. They are undefeated in their last six league matches, including last week's 1-1 draw at AC Milan. Verona have lost away from home against both Inter and Juventus, but both were narrow 2-1 defeats. Sofyan Amrabat is suspended for the visitors but they don't have any injury concerns ahead of this match.
Probable line-ups:
Lazio: Strakosha - Bastos, Acerbi, Radu - Lazzari, Milinkovic-Savic, Leiva, Alberto, Lulic - Caicedo, Immobile
Verona: Silvestri - Rrahmani, Gunther, Kumbulla - Faraoni, Pessina, Veloso, Lazovic - Zaccagni, Vere - Borini
My prediction:
Lazio are in excellent form and this is a great chance for them to move up to second place, Verona will surely fight hard as they usually do but I believe Lazio will win 3-1.
Here are the odds for this match at NetBet:
Lazio win - 1.48
Draw - 4.80
Verona win - 7.10

Lazio have to really regret they weren't able to win this one cause if they were they'd be sitting top of the table right now. And they've had their chances, the home team hit the posts in a couple of occasions and that really wasn't their day, Verona are tough opponent this season though and deserved a credit for the performance in this one as well.
