The 199th edition of the Turin Derby, also known as Derby della Mole, will take place on Saturday, when Torino host local rivals Juventus at the Olympic Stadium. Last season Juventus won this fixture 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal from left-back Alex Sandro, while the reverse meeting at the Allianz Stadium was won 4-0 by Juventus with goals from Alex Sandro, Miralem Pjanic and a double from Paulo Dybala. The two rivals also met in the Italian Cup last season, and Juventus won that match 2-0. Torino have not won a derby match against Juventus since 2015 and overall they have won just 56 times while the Bianconeri won it on 87 occasions.
Torino are having a pretty good season so far, they might even be able to qualify for an European competition for the first time since 2014. They have lost just three of their fifteen Serie A matches this season and they are currently sitting in sixth place. They have lost just one of their last eleven matches in all competitions and last week they managed to secure a good goalless draw at AC Milan. The defence is their strong point, they have conceded just one goal in the last three league matches. Daniele Baselli is the only injury concern for the home side.
Juventus seem to be flying towards their eighth consecutive Serie A title, they are still undefeated in the league this season and they have won 14 of their 15 matches so far. The only slip-up was the 1-1 draw at home against Genoa, but overall they have dominated their opponents, scoring 32 goals and conceding just 8. They did lose a couple of matches in the Champions League this season, including the 2-1 defeat at Young Boys this week, but they still finished at the top of their group. Rodrigo Bentancur is suspended for this match, while Moise Kean and Andrea Barzagli are injured.
Probable line-ups:
Torino: Sirigu - Izzo, Nkoulou, Djidji - Silvestri, Meite, Rincon, Ansaldi - Baselli, Falque - Belotti
Juve: Szczesny - Cancelo, Bonucci, Chiellini, Sandro - Can, Pjanic, Matuidi - Dybala, Ronaldo, Mandzukic
My prediction: Juventus to win 2-1, the Bianconeri can't seem to be stopped at the moment.
