Tennis: Roger Federer sidelined for one month

ATP world number three Roger Federer won't be taking part in any tournaments for a month after having to undergo surgery on one of his knees. The 34-year-old Swiss player had the surgery in his native country in order to patch a torn meniscus. The 17-times Grand Slam champion had suffered the injury after the Australian Open semi-final in which he was defeated by eventual tournament winner and world number one Novak Djokovic. Federer was scheduled to take part in the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam and the Dubai Championships in February. "While this is an unfortunate setback, I feel grateful that up until now I have remained mostly healthy throughout my career," Federer said. "My doctors have assured me the surgery was a success and, with proper rehabilitation, I will be able to return to the Tour soon." Federer has not won a Grand Slam title since Wimbledon in 2012, now he is 20/1 at Bet365 to win the next Grand Slam tournament this year, which is Roland Garros.
