Tennis: Serbia win first edition of the ATP Cup

Serbia, led by Novak Djokovic, have won the first edition of the ATP Cup, the competition that made its debut on the international circuit this year. Serbia defeated Spain 2-1 in the final of the ATP Cup on Sunday, with former world number one Djokovic featuring both in a singles match and in the doubles match. First Djokovic managed to defeat Spain's Rafael Nadal 6-2 7-6 in the singles match, leveling the tie after Roberto Bautista Agut had defeated Dusan Lajovic 7-5 6-1 in the first match of the clash.

Djokovic then played in the doubles alongside Viktor Troicki and they managed to win 6-3 6-4 against Pablo Carreno Busta and Feliciano Lopez. "I will remember this experience for the rest of my life," Djokovic said. "It's definitely one of the nicest moments of my career." The Serbian number one has won 16 Grand Slam titles in his career and 77 titles overall and has also won the Davis Cup with Serbia in 2010.

Djokovic has not lost a single match during the two weeks of the ATP Cup, winning six singles matches and two doubles matches. "It was a huge team effort," Djokovic said about the competition. "I've been very fortunate and blessed to have an amazing career but playing for your country, with some of my best friends, you can't match that." Rafael Nadal remains at the top of the ATP rankings and the battle between him and Djokovic will continue at the Australian Open, which the Serbian has won last year.

Novak Djokovic is 5/4 at NetBet to win the Australian Open again this year, while Rafael Nadal is 9/2 to win the first Grand Slam of the season.
