UEFA Champions League: Atletico Madrid vs Roma preview
Atletico Madrid have a last chance to salvage their Champions League campaign, but they need to beat Group C leaders Roma at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday in order to preserve any chance of qualifying. The reverse fixture in Rome ended goalless, and it was the first ever Champions League meeting between the two sides. Atletico and Roma also met in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in 1999 and back then the Spanish side won both meetings 2-1. Atletico Madrid are in a desperate situation in Group C after being unable to record a single victory in the first four matches. They lost just one match, 2-1 at home against Chelsea, but the two consecutive draws against group minnows Qarabag left them four points behind Chelsea and five points behind leaders Roma. Last weekend Atletico held rivals Real Madrid to a goalless draw in the derby, extending their unbeaten streak in LaLiga to 12 games this season. Stefan Savic got sent off in the previous match and is suspended for Wednesday's game. Roma boosted their chances to qualify with a solid 3-0 victory over Chelsea last time out, a draw against Atletico would secure their passage to the first knockout round. They have won their last six matches in all competitions, including last weekend's 2-1 derby victory over city rivals Lazio. Midfielder Radja Nainggolan returned to action last weekend following a successful recovery from injury, so Rick Karsdrop remains the only fitness concern for the visiting side. Probable line-ups: Atletico: Oblak - Juanfran, Gimenez, Godin, Luis - Koke, Gabi, Partey, Niguez - Correa, Griezmann Roma: Alisson - Florenzi, Manolas, Jesus, Kolarov - Nainggolan, De Rossi, Strootman - El Shaarawy, Dzeko, Perotti My prediction: 1-1 draw. Here are the odds for the match at Bet365: Atletico win - 1.95 Draw - 3.50 Roma win - 4.33
