Multiple Serie A champions Juventus will be looking to start their Champions League campaign with a win as they welcome Europa League holders Sevilla in Turin on Wednesday. The two sides have met at the same stage of the competition last season and both teams won their home matches, Juventus secured a 2-0 win in Italy while Sevilla won 1-0 in Spain. Juventus qualified from the group but Sevilla didn't and went on to win the Europa League instead.
Juventus started the season all guns blazing, securing three wins out of three in the Serie A and already establishing themselves as the undisputed favourites to win the title in Italy once again. They did sell their biggest star this summer as Paul Pogba joined Manchester United for a record fee, but they have also brought in big names like Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Daniel Alves just two name a few. Claudio Marchisio and Stefano Sturaro are the only injured players in the Juventus camp ahead of this match.
Sevilla started their season with consecutive defeats against Barcelona in the two-legged Spanish Super Cup but then went unbeaten in the first three matches of the Primera Liga campaign, with two wins and a draw. For new head coach Jorge Sampaoli this will be the first ever Champions League match. Benoit Tremoulinas, David Soria and Michael Kron-Dehli are all injured while Timothée Kolodziejczak is suspended.
Probable line-ups:
Juventus: Buffon - Benatia, Bonucci, Chiellini - Alves, Khedira, Pjanic, Asamoah, Sandro - Higuain, Dybala
Sevilla: Rico - Mariano, Rami, Pareja, Escudero - N'Zonzi - Nasri, Vazquez, Ganso, Correa - Vietto
My prediction: Juventus to win 1-0.
