Premier League leaders Manchester City take on Serie A leaders Napoli at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening in what could be one of the most spectacular matches of the season so far. Both sides have scored in all their matches this season. The last time the two sides met was in the group stage of the Champions League in 2011 and back then Napoli came out on top as they secured a 1-1 draw in England before winning the home match 2-1. Manchester City have won just three of their 12 games against Italian teams.
Manchester City extended their winning streak in all competitions to nine games last weekend with a spectacular 7-1 victory over Stoke City in the Premier League. They have won both their Champions League matches so far, 4-0 at Feyenoord and 2-0 at home against Shakhtar Donetsk, so another victory would put them in pole position to qualify for the next round. Benjamin Mendy and Vincent Kompany are still injured and will most likely miss out, while striker Sergio Aguero was on the bench during last weekend's match and might get a few minutes of play here.
Napoli won their eighth consecutive Serie A match on Saturday, they beat AS Roma 1-0 at the Olympic Stadium and now have a solid five-point advantage over defending champions Juventus. Their Champions League campaign didn't go that well so far, they started out with a 2-1 defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk but recovered to beat Feyenoord 3-1 at home last time out. Striker Arkadiusz Milik is the only injury concern for head coach Maurizio Sarri, but his attacking trio of Insigne, Mertens and Callejon have provided 14 goals between them so far this season.
Probable line-ups:
Man City: Ederson - Walker, Stones, Otamendi, Delph - De Bruyne, Fernandinho, D. Silva - Sterling, Jesus, Sane
Napoli: Reina - Hysaj, Albiol, Koulibaly, Ghoulam - Allan, Jorginho, Hamsik - Callejon, Mertens, Insigne
My prediction: Manchester City to win 3-2.
