Napoli have another shot at beating Paris Saint-Germain after having come very close two weeks ago, the two teams meet again on Tuesday at San Paolo Stadium in Naples. The reverse fixture was very entertaining, Lorenzo Insigne put Napoli ahead in the first half, then PSG drew level thanks to an own-goal, then Dries Mertens put Napoli back in command but Angel Di Maria scored in the 93rd minute
to make it all square. Napoli had secured a draw in their only previous trip to Paris, 0-0 in the UEFA Cup back in 1992, but they failed to qualify as PSG had won 2-0 in Naples.
Napoli are still undefeated in the Champions League this season and they lost just two matches in all competitions since the start of the campaign, both in Serie A. They are second in the group table at the moment, one point behind first-placed Liverpool but also just one point behind third-placed PSG. Last week they had a good warm-up for the Champions League, they defeated Empoli 5-1 in Serie A on Friday and Dries Mertens bagged a hat-trick. Head coach Carlo Ancelotti doesn't hdefeave any fresh injury concerns ahead of Tuesday's match, as defender Vlad Chiriches, midfielder Simone Verdi and goalkeeper Alex Meret remain sidelined.
Paris Saint-Germain have to pull off a big victory against either Napoli or Liverpool if they want to qualify from Group C, but so far they lost 3-2 at Liverpool and drew 2-2 at home against Napoli. Their only victory in the Champions League so far this season was the 6-1 thumping of Crvena Zvezda at Parc des Princes. After the 2-2 draw against Napoli, PSG returned to their domination of the French league, winning another couple of matches to make it 12 wins out of 12 games since the start of the season. Left-back Layvin Kurzawa is injured and won't make the trip to Naples, while Dani Alves, Edinson Cavani and Jese are injury doubts.
Probable line-ups:
Napoli: Ospina - Maksimovic, Albiol, Koulibaly, Rui - Allan, Hamsik, Ruiz - Callejon, Mertens, Insigne
PSG: Areola - Meunier, T. Silva, Marquinhos, Bernat - Verratti, Rabiot - Mbappe, Neymar, Di Maria - Cavani
My prediction: 1-1 draw, the two teams will most likely settle for the draw and hope for more in the following two matches.
