Spain can secure their place at the top of UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying Group F with two games to spare, all they need is a victory over Sweden at Friends Arena in Stockholm on Tuesday evening. In the reverse fixture Spain were quite dominant and they defeated Sweden 3-0 with goals from Sergio Ramos, Alvaro Morata and Mikel Oyarzabal. That was the third consecutive win for Spain against Sweden and the fourth in the last six matches.
Spain suffered their first slight setback of this qualifying campaign last week, when they got held to a 1-1 draw in Norway due to a stoppage-time penalty kick that leveled the score after Saul had put the visitors ahead. Spain are almost qualified for the final tournament, but they want to make sure they finish at the top of the group table, and that outcome would be guaranteed if they beat Sweden on Tuesday. Captain Sergio Ramos won't play in this match after being booked in the match against Norway.
Sweden are in a good place in the qualification race at the moment, they are sitting in second place and have a one-point advantage over Romania. The two sides will meet in a direct clash in November, but until then Sweden could lose their second spot if they don't beat Spain and Romania defeat Norway. Last week Sweden secured an easy 4-0 victory over Malta, but things will be infinitely more difficult against group leaders Spain.
Probable line-ups:
Sweden: Olsen - Lustig, Lindelof, Granqvist, Bengtsson - Larsson, Olsson, Ekdal, Forsberg - Berg, Isak
Spain: Arrizabalaga - Navas, Albiol, Martinez, Bernat - Ruiz, Busquets, Saul - Oyarzabal, R. Moreno, Ceballos
My prediction:
Spain rarely slip up twice in a row, they are the favourites and the better side here so I think they will claim a 2-1 win, even though Sweden will surely fight hard to grab a point.
Here are the odds for the match at NetBet:
Sweden win - 4.25
Draw - 3.50
Spain win - 1.87
