Jose Mourinho's Manchester United will be looking to grab a win after two consecutive draws when they face Turkish side Fenerbahce at Old Trafford on Thursday. The two sides have already met four times in European competitions, but not very recently. The last meeting was surprisingly won by Fenerbahce, 3-0 in 2004, and the Turks have also won in Manchester back in 1996. The overall head to head record shows two wins apiece.
Manchester United have recovered after three consecutive defeats in all competitions, with one of those defeats coming in their first Europa League match of the season, against Feyenoord. They bounced back with three consecutive wins and five matches unbeaten in all competitions, including a narrow 1-0 home win over Zorya in the Europa League. They are coming from two consecutive Premier League draws though, so they will like to feel the taste of victory again as soon as possible.
Fenerbahce are still unbeaten in this season's Europa League after a 1-1 draw at Zorya and a 1-0 victory at home over Feyenoord. They also had to go through the playoff to qualify for the group stage, but they thrashed Grasshoppers 5-0 on aggregate. They are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions, but only got three wins during that streak.
Probable line-ups:
Man United: Romero - Fosu-Mensah, Smalling, Blind, Shaw - Fellaini, Carrick - Lingard, Mkhitaryan, Depay - Rooney
Fenerbahce: Demirel - Wiel, Kjaer, Skrtel, Kaldirim - Topal, Souza - Potuk, Van Persie, Sen - Emenike
My prediction: Manchester United to win 1-0.
Here are the odds for the match at Bet365:
Man United win - 1.60
Draw - 4.33
Fenerbahce win - 6.00
