Manchester United continue their troubled UEFA Europa League campaign with a potentially decisive match on Thursday when they host Feyenoord at Old Trafford. The Dutch side won the reverse fixture 1-0 right at the beginning of the group stage campaign, a result that had raised plenty of questions about Jose Mourinho's team. The two teams had met twice before that in the Champions League back in 1997, with Manchester United winning both home and away.
Manchester United have lost two of their four Europa League matches so far, including a 2-1 defeat last time out at Fenerbahce. They did win their two home matches so far though, and another win could significantly boost their qualification chances as they are just one point behind leading duo of Fenerbahce and Feyenoord. Last weekend the Red Devils played a pretty good match at home against Arsenal, it ended 1-1 but Mourinho's men probably deserved to win it. Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling are still injured, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic should be able to make his return.
Feyenoord have not managed to win any of their two away matches in the Europa League so far, they lost at Fenerbahce and earned a 1-1 draw at Zorya Luhansk last time out. Last weekend they managed to end a three-game winless streak with a 3-0 victory at home over Zwolle, but they have won only two of their last six matches in all competitions. Eric Botteghin is suspended after being sent off in the previous match, while Kenneth Vermeer and Sven van Beek are injured.
Probable line-ups:
Man United: De Gea - Valencia, Blind, Rojo, Shaw - Herrera, Pogba - Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Martial - Ibrahimovic
Feyenoord: Jones - Karsdrop, Heijden, Kongolo, Woudenberg - Ahmadi, Kuyt, Vilhena - Toornstra, Jorgensen, Elia
My prediction: Manchester United to win 2-0.
