Red Bull Salzburg are hoping to pull off another great comeback when they host French side Marseille at the Red Bull Arena today in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-finals tie. Last week Marseille got themselves a solid advantage in the first leg, they won it 2-0 with goals from Florian Thauvin and Clinton N'Jie. That was the first ever victory for Marseille against Salzburg, the two teams have been in the same Europa League group earlier this season and the Austrians won 1-0 at home before holding out for a goalless draw in France.
Red Bull Salzburg pulled off an amazing fightback in the quarter-finals, they were trailing 4-2 after the first leg against Lazio, trailing 1-0 at the hour mark in the second leg, but eventually won that game 4-1 and the tie on aggregate. Their fans will be hoping for a repeat of that, even though Marseille know what to expect in Salzburg. Last weekend Salzburg won 2-0 at St Polten in the Austrian Budesliga are are cruising towards the title. There are no reported injury concerns for the home side ahead of Thursday's match.
Marseille have been in pretty good form lately, they have not lost any of their last six matches in all competitions and have won four of them. However, their away form in the Europa League has not been as good during the current campaign: they lost two matches out of three in the group stage and then lost two out of three in the knockout phase as well. Last weekend they grabbed a 1-1 draw at Angers in Ligue 1, so they remain one point behind third-placed Monaco. Steve Mandanda and Hiroki Sakai are the only injury concerns for the away side.
Probable line-ups:
Salzburg: Walke - Lainer, Ramalho, Caleta-Car, Ulmer - Haidara, Samassekou, Berisha - Schlager - Dabbur, Hee-Chan
Marseille: Pele - Sarr, Rami, Gustavo, Amavi - Lopez, Sanson - Thauvin, Payet, Ocampos - Mitroglou
My prediction: Red Bull Salzburg to win 2-1.
