Premier League: Manchester United reject offer for Romelu Lukaku

Manchester United seem keen on keeping their Belgium internationa forward Romelu Lukaku, Serie A side Inter Milan have made an offer worth just under 54 million pounds for the striker and the Red Devils rejected the bid. Manchester United have signed the 26-year-old striker from Everton for 75 million pounds two years ago, and they are probalby expecting to at least recover the money they had spent on that transfer if they are to sell Lukaku.

Manchester United played a friendly match against Inter Milan on Saturday and the Belgium striker was left out of the squad due to an injury, but also because of the transfer negotiations. "I consider him a player who could improve our team," Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte said. "On one side it is my hope and my will, on my other side we will see what we find with the club. It's not right to speak about the player in this moment because he is a Manchester United player and for this reason we must show great respect for the club and at the same time for the player and for my players."

Antonio Conte, who managed Chelsea between 2016 and 2018, admitted that he wanted to bring Lukaku to the Blues during his reign. Inter Milan are expected to sell Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi this summer, and if that deal goes through then they might return with an improved offer for Romelu Lukaku. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer said that he still considers Lukaku "one of the top, top strikers in the world."

Manchester United have only signed two young players this summer, left winger Daniel James joined from Swansea and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka was bought from Crystal Palace, while Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera were allowed to leave the club. Romelu Lukaku is 1/4 at Betway to join Inter Milan this summer and 4/1 to move to Serie A champions Juventus.
