Premier League: Wolverhampton vs Liverpool preview
Premier League leaders Liverpool face a tricky away match on Friday evening, they face the Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium. The two teams have last met in the FA Cup two seasons ago, and Wolves managed to pull off a major upset at the time by winning 2-1 at Anfield. Before that match, Liverpool had won the previous three direct meetings, all in the Premier League. Overall, Liverpool have won three of the last six direct matches in all competitions, while Wolves clinched two victories, both away from home. The last time Wolves won a home match against Liverpool was in 1981. Wolverhampton are performing above expectations so far this season, they are in seventh place in the Premier League table after 17 matches and they have won their last three games. Moreover, they have managed to pull off serious upsets against the big teams, the most important one being the 2-1 home victory over Chelsea at the start of December. They have also held Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal to draws, while last weekend they grabbed a 2-0 home victory over Bournemouth. Diogo Jota is the only injury concern for the home side. Liverpool are on a five-match winning streak in all competitions and they seem ready to hold on to their spot at the top of the Premier League table for as long as possible. Last week was a very successful one for the Reds, they started with a crucial 1-0 victory over Napoli in the Champions League and then hammered Manchester United 3-1 in the North West Derby, leading to Jose Mourinho's sacking. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip remain on the injured list, but James Milner should be available again after missing last weekend's match. Xherdan Shaqiri should be rewarded with a place in the starting eleven after coming off the bench to score twice against Manchester United. Probable line-ups: Wolves: Patricio - Bennett, Coady, Boly - Doherty, Moutinho, Neves, Jonny - Gibbs-White - Jimenez, Costa Liverpool: Alisson - Milner, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson - Henderson, Wijnaldum - Shaqiri, Firmino, Mane - Salah My prediction: Liverpool to win 2-1, it will be a tricky match for the Reds but they are in great form.
