Serie A club AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Lille striker Rafael Leao, the transfer fee is worth 35 million euros and the 20-year-old forward signed a five-year deal with the Rossoneri. The arrival of Leao comes just a couple of days after AC Milan had completed the sale of striker Patrick Cutrone to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Portuguese striker from Lille does replace Cutrone but he can also play as a winger.
Rafael Leao is a Portugal Under-21 international, he is a product of the Sporting CP youth system and he only managed to play one season for Lille after having joined them in August 2018. He scored 8 goals in 26 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season and was on AC Milan's radar for a while now. He is the most expensive transfer of the summer for AC Milan after the arrivals of Theo Hernandez from Real Madrid for 20 million euros and Rade Krunic from Empoli for 8 million euros.

AC Milan are in the middle of a rebuilding process after head coach Gennaro Gattuso left the club in May. Former Sampdoria boss Marco Giampaolo took the job from Gattuso, while former Rossoneri captain Paolo Maldini was appointed technical director and Zvonimir Boban was named chief football officer. Ignazio Abate, Cristian Zapata and Riccardo Montolivo all left the club after their contracts expired this summer.
AC Milan have finished fifth in Serie A last season and now they are 1/1 at William Hill to secure a placement in the top four.
