Manchester United have given up on the prospect of signing Juventus striker Paulo Dybala, the forward was supposed to join the Red Devils in exchange for fellow striker Romelu Lukaku moving to the Bianconeri. It is believed that the 25-year-old Argentinian had pretty high wage demands, which Manchester United were unwilling to meet. Paulo Dybala joined Juventus from Palermo in 2015 and had a few good years in Turin, but last season he only managed to score 10 goals.
This decision from Manchester United keeps Romelu Lukaku's future in doubt, the Belgium striker was willing to go to Turin as part of the Dybala swap deal. Lukaku joined Manchester United from Everton for 75 million pounds in 2019 and last season he scored just 12 goals for the club. Earlier this summer Manchester United rejected an offer from Inter Milan for Dybala, the transfer fee that Inter proposed was around 54 million pounds.
Inter Milan head coach Antonio Conte said that they had not yet given up on Lukaku. "We continue to work on it in the best possible way," Conte said. "I understand there are some gaps that need to be filled but at the moment I am very hopeful that this will happen." It is believed that Inter are willing to make an improved offer, but it would still be less than 79 million pounds, which is the asking price that Manchester United have set. Fellow Serie A side Napoli was also rumoured to be interested in signing Lukaku, but chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed they had not made an official bid and were most likely pursue other targets.
Romelu Lukaku is now 1/2 at William Hill to join Inter Milan this summer and 6/4 to join Juventus.
